ALREADY WAY MORE THAN JUST AN OIL CHANGE

Why do you need an oil change?

When you change your oil, you’re preventing engine damage by removing carbon, dirt and debris that build up over time. Timely oil changes keep your engine healthy and save you from a potential major repair expense down the road.

An oil change is inexpensive compared to engine repairs, and it protects your warranty. The oil drain plug gasket collects all the gunk that’s in your oil pan, which can cause big problems if not checked regularly. Changing oil is also environmentally responsible because it keeps oil out of the landfill.

What’s more, oil change intervals are recommended by vehicle manufacturers to keep your vehicle performing at its best. Regular oil changes can save you a lot of money on engine oil and oil filters, as well as extend the life of your engine.

How do oil changes help my car?

Automotive fluids protect, lubricate and cool vital car parts, making them last longer and run smoother. Changing oil helps remove contaminants such as dirt, dust and metal shavings that can cause damage to your engine if they’re allowed to build up.

An oil change includes the installation of up to six litres of quality motor oil, as specified by your vehicle manufacturer, as well as a new oil filter. The oil filter traps contaminants before they reach the oil pump, which helps ensure oil is clean and efficient.

Frequently Asked Questions

Every vehicle is different and how often you need to change your oil is determined by your vehicle manufacturer. Your owner’s manual will provide a normal recommendation and a severe service recommendation about how often to change your oil and what type of oil that is required to meet your warranty and protect your engine. In Canada, you drive under severe service conditions.

Still need more information? Ask one of our Victory Lube service technicians. They’ll be glad to explain the type of oil your vehicle needs and how often you need to change it.

There is a common rule of thumb that synthetic oil should be changed approximately every 5,000 km or everything three months, however, this is an imperfect rule. As technology has evolved, the timings for oil changes have also changed, so you can’t necessarily predict the timing based on vehicles that you’ve driven in the past.

Every vehicle is different, so you should check your owner’s manual to see how often you should check your oil. Today’s vehicles also come with indicator lights that let you know when you are due for an oil change; however, it’s still worth knowing how often you should change your oil in case those lights fail.

When you schedule a full-service oil change with us, you will receive an oil change using the appropriate oil for your vehicle, a new oil filter and lubrication of your vehicle’s chassis components.

We will also perform some courtesy checks on:

  • Fluid in Automatic Transmissions
  • Power Steering Fluid
  • Washer fluid
  • Antifreeze/coolant
  • Tire Pressure
  • Air Filter
  • Serpentine Belt
  • Wiper Blades
  • Vehicle lights
  • Battery

There are so many different types of motor oil on the market today that choosing the right one can seem like a daunting task. But the answer is actually quite simple – look in your owner’s manual.

Your owner’s manual will tell you the recommended weight and format (such as 10W30) of the oil that you should be using.

Synthetic oil is a lubricant that is made from chemical compounds and is designed to provide better protection for your engine than traditional oil. It’s also more environmentally friendly, as it doesn’t break down as quickly as traditional oil does.

At Victory Lube, we use only the highest quality synthetic oil in all of our oil changes.

Yes, you can change your oil yourself, but we always recommend having a professional do the job. At Victory Lube, we have the experience and knowledge to do the job right – and our prices are competitive.

We also offer oil change coupons to help you save on your next appointment.

A warranty-approved oil change is one that meets or exceeds the requirements of your vehicle manufacturer. Many manufacturers require oil changes using a specific weight and type of oil in order to maintain the warranty on your vehicle. At Victory Lube, we use oil that meets or exceeds the requirements of your vehicle manufacturer, so you can rest assured that your warranty will be maintained.

Yes, oil changes affect your oil life. When you change oil in your vehicle, the oil life counter is reset to 100%. This means that if your oil life has dropped because of a recent oil change, then the next oil change will come at a different percentage depending on how much mileage you have put on your vehicle since the last oil change. For oil life guidelines, check your owner’s manual.

No, an oil change does not affect oil pressure. Oil pressure is affected by internal engine factors such as the size and shape of moving parts that you can’t see or change. It also fluctuates depending on how much force your vehicle is under – like when you accelerate rapidly or drive up a steep hill. At Victory Lube, our oil changes are designed to maintain your oil pressure within the manufacturer’s recommended guidelines.

Yes, it is bad to go without an oil change. If you don’t change your oil regularly – as per manufacturer recommendations – then it can harm the internal engine components and affect oil pressure. At Victory Lube, we recommend oil changes based on our experience and knowledge of how long most cars can go before their oil needs changing.
