It’s happened to all of us at one time or another. We’ve hopped in our cars to go somewhere on a cold winter morning only to find that our car won’t start.

Our battery has died. And that’s unfortunate because occasional battery checks can usually prevent this type of thing from happening.

At Victory Lube, we offer battery inspection and replacement. Don’t wait until you get stranded; make an appointment to have your battery checked today.

Possible reasons for battery failure

Even if your car battery is still technically good, it is still possible for you to wake up to a battery that has run out of juice. Common causes for battery failure include:

  • Leaving your lights on
  • A loose alternator belt
  • Excessive vibration
  • Corrosion
  • Freezing

If you are able to jumpstart your car after your battery has died and it is fine afterward, one of the above may have been responsible. If, however, you jumpstart your car and the battery dies again within a short time period, your battery likely needs to be replaced.

Frequently Asked Questions

At a minimum, you should replace your car battery every 3 to 5 years. You may also need to replace it if you are experiencing any of the following problems:

  • It is difficult or slow to start your engine.
  • There is a clicking or buzzing sound when you turn the ignition.
  • The eye (if there is one) is dark or clear.

Typically, car batteries last between three and five years. If you push your battery beyond five years, there is a chance that it will fail without warning. For this reason, most manufacturers recommend replacing a battery after five years.

As car batteries age, they become less effective at holding a charge. This is due to a number of factors, including corrosion and general deterioration. Additionally, car batteries are susceptible to damage from excessive vibration and extreme temperatures.

We recommend checking your car battery at least once a year, ideally before the cold winter months set in. This will allow you to check your battery life, identify any potential problems and address them before they lead to a car battery failure.

If you suspect that your car battery may be on the verge of failing, it is best to have it replaced as soon as possible. To replace your car battery, you will need to locate the battery in your car and remove any protective covers or fasteners holding it in place. Once the old battery is out, simply replace it with a new car battery and tighten any fasteners or covers that were removed.

If you are unsure of how to replace your car battery, or if you do not have the tools necessary to do so, we recommend bringing your car to Victory Lube for service.

The cost of replacing a car battery will vary depending on the make and model of your car, as well as the type of battery you purchase.

If your car won’t start due to a dead battery, you will need to jumpstart it. To do this, you will need to connect the positive terminal of your car battery to the positive terminal of another car battery using a set of jumper cables. Once the cable connections are made, start the working car and let it run for a few minutes before attempting to start your car.
